Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), in support of the U.S. Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration’s Next Generation Safeguards Initiative, are pleased to announce a one-week, tuition-free, intensive course on international nuclear safeguards policy and up to six paid summer internships.
The International Nuclear Safeguards Policy and Information Analysis Course will be held in Monterey from June 3- 7, 2019. The course is tuition free and open to all nationalities. Some stipends will be available to non-local applicants to partially cover transportation and housing costs. Course applicants who are U.S. citizens may also apply for a ten-week paid internship (June 10 to August 16, 2019) at LLNL in Livermore. The internships pay $6,000 total which is paid in two installments of $3,000. Successful completion of the course is a prerequisite for the internships.
Applicants must be a currently enrolled graduate student or a young professional with an interest in nuclear nonproliferation/safeguards. We are especially interested in applicants who demonstrate how a deeper understanding of international safeguards policy will aid their professional pursuits. To be eligible for LLNL internships, applicants must be U.S. citizens. Qualified applicants for internships will be interviewed by a selection panel.
